GILBERT, Ariz. (January 28, 2026) - Gilbert Public Schools (GPS), in partnership with the Gilbert Education Foundation (GEF), invites families to a morning of fitness and fun at the 9th Annual Run for Fun and GPS Community Fiesta, Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Campo Verde High School, 9:30 am to Noon.

The event kicks off at 8:30 am with the GEF Run for Fun, featuring a 5K and 1-mile run/walk open to all ages and fitness levels. Following the race, families are invited to stay for the GPS Community Fiesta, a free, family-friendly celebration running from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

GEF Run for Fun
The Run for Fun promotes healthy lifestyles and community. Proceeds benefit the Gilbert Education Foundation and go directly to classrooms, supporting enrichment opportunities and innovative programs for GPS students and staff.

Race activities begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Campo Verde High running track, with participants able to run or walk either the 5K or 1-mile course. All registered runners receive a custom event Dri-Fit T-shirt, a finisher’s medal, access to hydration stations, and real-time race results. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group for 5K participants. Team registrations are also available, encouraging schools, families, and community groups to participate together.

GPS Community Fiesta & Mascot Race
After the 5k and 1-mile walk/run, the GPS Community Fiesta will transform Campo Verde High School into a hub of family fun and school pride. The Fiesta will feature a live DJ, food trucks, arts and crafts, family games, prizes, and more. A variety of vendors will be available in a “farmer’s market” style for families to shop around, while an inflatable obstacle course offers children a chance to have fun. Highlighted at the Fiesta is one of the morning’s most anticipated events - the district-wide mascot race.

Mascots from across Gilbert Public Schools will compete head-to-head in a race that brings together students, families, and school communities for some friendly competition. The winning mascots can earn cash prizes for their school!

“The Run 4 Fun and Community Fiesta are all about bringing our community together,” said Rod Huston, Director of Community Education at Gilbert Public Schools. “From the race to the mascot showdown, this event reflects the fun, inclusive, and supportive culture we strive to create for our students and families.”

The GEF Run for Fun and GPS Community Fiesta is open to the public and welcomes participants of all ages. Register by February 20, 2026, and learn more at https://sites.google.com/gilbertschools.net/gpscommunityfiesta
